WASHINGTON — The opening meet of the swim season for the Shepaug and Nonnewaug swim teams saw the neighboring schools facing off against each other back in December.

The Spartans used their experience and depth to give them a victory, 96-89, over the improving Chiefs.

The meet began with a victory in the 200 medley relay by Nonnewaug’s team of Sinday Gorka, Collin Bootsma, Joe Reilly and Sam McDonald in a time of 1:54.52.

McDonald claimed individual wins in the 50 free and the 100 free. Gabe Taranto from Shepaug won both the 200 free and the 500 free races.
