WASHINGTON — The Shepaug girls’ soccer team picked up a 4-0 victory over Gilbert to start last week, then fell to powerful Housatonic later in the week in a 7-0 loss.
The win over Gilbert was the first of the season for the Spartans, who have posted a 1-3 record through the first two weeks.
Marissa Perachi led the team with two goals. Eilish Crossley and Jannelle Frankland each scored one.
Madison Douskey kept the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard with five saves. Gilbert’s goalie, Ajla Gutic, had a busy afternoon, making 31 saves.
Housatonic’s All State stand- out, Sydney Segalla, led the Mountaineers in the rout with four goals.
Douskey made 14 saves for the Spartans.
The struggles continued for the Shepaug boys’ soccer team in this shortened season. The Spartans tied Gilbert 1-1 in their first game last week, then dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Housatonic. Overall, their record now stands at 1-2-1.
In the Housy game, Owen Hibbard scored the lone goal for Shepaug.
Bram Gattie made six saves in goal. Housatonic’s goalkeeper, John Purdy made eight saves.
