WASHINGTON — The Shepaug girls’ soccer team picked up a 4-0 victory over Gilbert to start last week, then fell to powerful Housatonic later in the week in a 7-0 loss.

The win over Gilbert was the first of the season for the Spartans, who have posted a 1-3 record through the first two weeks.

Marissa Perachi led the team with two goals. Eilish Crossley and Jannelle Frankland each scored one.

Madison Douskey kept the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard with five saves. Gilbert’s goalie, Ajla Gutic, had a busy afternoon, making 31 saves.

Housatonic’s All State stand- out, Sydney Segalla, led the Mountaineers in the rout with four goals.

In the Housy game, Owen Hibbard scored the lone goal for Shepaug.
