SOUTHINGTON — Seven members of the Pomperaug/Newtown co-op ski team participated in the first of two Team Connecticut qualification races on Monday, January 27, at the Mt. Southington Ski Area.
On the boys’ side, all of the participants qualified for the second race with Alec Zackin coming in fourth; Matt Jacobs, fifth; Nick Jacobs, eighth; Andrew Jacobs, 13th; Jack Funk, 25th.
For the girls, Lauren Jacobs and Lindsey Abarzua qualified coming in third and 28th, respectively.
Adrianna Morse missed the cut by less than a second.

The team raced its third regular season race on Wednesday, January 29.
The boys had their best race yet with a 5-0 record and were the fastest team overall. The girls’ team went 2-3 and placed fourth overall.
Lauren Jacobs picked up another win for the girls’ team. Also scoring for the girls were Lindsey Abarzua, 11th out of 162; Adrianna Morse, 14th; Emily Falk, 49th; Anna Latta. 56th; and Narayna Thind, 66th.
On the boys’ side Alec Zackin placed third out of 196. Also scoring were Nick Jacobs, fifth; Andrew Jacobs, sixth; Kyle Fralley, 18th; Matt Jacobs, 33rd and Ty Fralley, 53rd.
