MIDDLEBURY-SOUTHBURY — Pomperaug coasted to a 64-34 girls’ basketball victory over Weston last Friday and improved to 11-6 for the season. The first half was close, but the Panthers raced to 20 points in both the third and fourth periods to gain the easy win. Molly Flanagan topped her team with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jada Stietzel and Cara McGettigan each had 10 points, while Marina Lambiase and Sydney Lounsbury each garned six.

Stietzel scored 11 points, grabbed 11 caroms and handed out five assists in a 62-19 romp over Stratford. Lounsbury also had 11 points in the contest and Jessica Evans added eight.

In non-league action, Conard defeated Pomperaug, 54-46, in West Hartford.

The Panthers held a 27-24 edge at half-time, but a 19-8 deficit in the third quarter was more than they could overcome.

Stietzel scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds for Pomperaug.

Flanagan chipped in with 15 points and Lounsbury added eight.
