MIDDLEBURY-SOUTHBURY — The Pomperaug softball team was knocked out of the state tournament last week, by the New Milford team the Panthers defeated, 2-1, earlier in the season

The Green Wave posted 7-2 victory. The game was in the first round of Class LL. The Panthers were seeded 16th.

The Panthers only managed two runs against strong pitching from the Green Wave. Freshman Kaylie Costa pitched well for Pomperaug.

The Panthers runs were scored by Emma Durante and Alex Bisceglia.

Pomperaug had a fast start to the season, winning seven of its first nine games. Overall, the Panthers compiled a 12-8 record.

Four seniors, Durante, Liz Sullivan, Meaghan Yale and Skyler Hughes, will be graduating.
