OXFORD — By out-scoring its opponent by 20 points in the second half, the Oxford football team picked up its third victory of the season, defeating Kennedy by a 27-13 margin.
The Wolverines have now won three of their last four games and have turned around their season after starting with five losses.
Cody Russell threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Matt McGuire in the first period, and McGuire kicked the extra point.
Kennedy came back and took the lead in the second stanza. Jay Crawford had a one-yard touchdown plunge, and Domar Byrd scored on a seven-yard run.
The Eagles made one PAT attempt, but the Wolverines blocked the other.
They went into half-time with Kennedy holding a 13-7 lead.
Oxford took the lead in the third quarter on a nine-yard pass play from McGuire to Phil DeAngelis. The extra point made it 14-13.
The Wolverines put the game away with two big plays in the final period.
Jake Biondo picked up the football after a fumble and ran 49 yards for a touchdown.
McGuire converted the extra point.
Nick Cuomo closed out the scoring when he rambled 84 yards for a touchdown.
Cuomo had 11 carries in the game and gained 113 yards.
McGuire toted the ball 13 times for 47 yards and also converted four of four passes for 64 yards.
Russell made two catches for 46 yards and made the 28-yard pass to McGuire that opened the scoring in the game.
