WASHINGTON — Northwestern topped the Shepaug girls’ soccer team, 3-1, last week, in the last game of the regular season. The Spartans moved to 5-6-1.

Marissa Perachi scored off an assist from teammate Eilish Crossley. Perachi has double-digits in scoring for the year.

Shepaug had 16 saves from Madison Douskey, while the Highlander keeper, Meredith Zemaitis, stopped six shots.

The Spartans were scheduled to play in the Berkshire League tournament on Monday, November 16 at home against Terryville. If they win that game, they will play the winner of a game between Wamogo and Northwestern on Wednesday.

The league is playing its tournament without Nonnewaug or Wolcott Tech, as both schools have had to pull out because of Covid-19 restrictions.

The Shepaug boys’ soccer team ended its regular season last week, falling 3-0 to a strong team from Northwestern.

The Spartans had a regular season record of 3-5-4.

Goalkeeper Bram Gattie was busy for the Spartans as he registered 18 saves.

Two Highlander keepers, Max Langer and Steele Brobston, combined to post the shutout with three saves.

In the Berkshire League Tournament, Shepaug was scheduled to play Wamogo on Tuesday, November 17.

If they win, they will move on to a semi-final contest on Thursday, against an opponent not yet decided.
