BETHLEHEM-WOODBURY — The Nonnewaug girls’ basketball team maintained its lead in the race for the Berkshire League crown, winning both games last week.
The Chiefs defeated Terryville 47-21 and Litchfield 68-21, to overall their overall record to 14-1 and their league record to 11-1.
They are just one game in front of Northwestern in the standings. Both teams are set to play each other Tuesday, February 11.
Nonnewaug also has a big game on Friday, February 14, against a tough Shepaug team at 5:30 p.m. at Shepaug.
In the Terryville game, the Chiefs ran out to a huge lead after one quarter (26-3) and led 36-12 at the half. Nonnewaug Coach Adam Brutting emptied his bench in the second half and most of his roster saw playing action.
