Nonnewaug: Boys’ Soccer Ready for Great Year

The boys’ soccer team at Nonnewaug will be led this season by seniors (from left) Jim Parker, Jason Zulpa, Tom Duncan, Jackson Baker, Josh Cheatham and (not pictured), Bryce Bauer.

BETHLEHEM-WOODBURY — The Nonnewaug boys’ soccer is ready for another good year of competitive soccer in the Berkshire League.

The Chiefs will miss their fierce rivalry against Lewis Mills, which departed the league for another conference, but they are looking forward to the challenges ahead and a possible run at the league title.

Coach Toby Denman sees his team as a blend of youth and experience that should give the Chiefs a chance at a run at one of the top spots in the league.

Last year, they finished second in the league with a 10-4-2 record and were 10-5-2 overall.

Key returning player include seniors Josh Cheatham, forward, second team All-BL; Jackson Baker, defense, first team All-BL; and Jim Parker, goalkeeper.

Juniors are Zach Thompson, forward; Franco Pannofino, defense; Jon Khazzaka, defense; Pedro Prates, midfielder. Sophomores include Aiden Colby, midfielder, second team All-BL, and Brendan Burke, defense.
