MONROE — The Parks and Recreation Department will offer swimming, floor hockey, an art workshop, league basketball, ski and snowboarding, and other programs.
The Parks and Recreation Department is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at 7 Fan Hill Rd.
Open swim is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at the Masuk High School pool, 1014 Monroe Tpke.
Pool parties may be scheduled between 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Fridays and 2 to 3:45 p.m. Saturdays for up to 50 people per group.
The pool will be closed December 7 and from December 23 to 31.
The information and cancellation line at 203-339-6106 will provide schedule updates as these change due to school closing and pool usage.
Pool memberships are sold at the pool during open swim and payable by cash or check only.
Floor hockey is a new program offered in conjunction with Connecticut Sports Network for youth in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Players will learn a popular sport in a fun and enjoyable environment, learning individual development, teamwork, and rules on Friday evenings from January 10 to February 7 in the Monroe Elementary School gym, 375 Monroe Tpke.
ArtSmart! Studio Friday Night Art Escape is for ages 10 to 14 and is a workshop series that provides an opportunity to socialize in a nurturing setting with other creative minds through sophisticated projects.
The workshop will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 13, for holiday crafting at ArtSmart! Studio, 152 Lynn Dr.

Teams and individuals who want to participate in the Men’s Over 30 Basketball League are invited to register before December 9.
League play will be Thursday nights with open play on December 12 and 19 and games beginning January 2 at St. Jude Parish Center Gym, 707 Monroe Tpke.
Teams must be a maximum of 10 members.
A six-week Ski and Snowboard Program at Mohawk Mountain will take place Friday nights from January 3 to February 7 for students age 11 to 17.
The program includes coach bus transportation from Village Square Shopping Center on Route 111 to Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall.
All fees are for the full six weeks and include lift ticket and transportation to and from the facility.
There are no refunds or partial payments and a helmet is mandatory.
Rental equipment and lessons will be available.
Monroe Parks and Recreation programs operate on a self-sustaining basis.
Revenue earned goes back to the community to develop new offerings and maintains affordability for existing programs.
