BETHLEHEM-WOODBURY — The fall season came to a close for the Nonnewaug boys’ soccer team last week.
The Chiefs played two games and won both of them, beating Wamogo 3-1 and Wolcott Tech 8-0 to raise their record to 12-1, and giving them the best record in the Berkshire League and first place for the regular season.
The Chiefs opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Northwestern, then won 12 in a row. Their final game with Shepaug was canceled last Friday. The team is also not competing in the Berkshire League post season tournament this week due to increasing virus numbers in the Region 14 district.
In the Wamogo game, Zach Thompson led the way on offense with two goals, while Brett Davino chipped in with the third. Aiden Colby assisted on two goals and Pedro Prates had one assist.
Dylan Chung was in goal for the Chiefs and only had to make three saves. Wamogo’s goalkeeper, Colin Oliver, made 10 saves.
In the final game of the season, Thompson was the leader again on the field. His three goals added to his team leading tally of 19 for the year. Andrew Greene, David DeForge, Brendan Burke and Ben Faraci each chipped in with one goal. Tech also had an “own” goal.
DeForge, Brett Davino and Devon Zapatka contributed assists. Dylan Chung and Ben Steward combined to make three saves in goal. Austin Ferrier was goalkeeper for Tech and made 10 saves.
