To the Editor:

My name is Patrick Freeman and I am the commander of the VFW Post 597 in Ansonia.

First, might I offer my thanks and condolences to the families of all who made the ultimate sacrifice and who we remember on Memorial Day. It is these sacrifices by so many that keep our country safe.

Second, I own a modified golf cart that is similar in looks to an antique car.

The cart led the Memorial Day parade in Ansonia and Oxford this year. On the side of the cart were mounted donation boxes that read 100 percent Donations for 100 percent Disabled Veterans.

Our post proudly skips all the administrative costs to insure that 100 percent of your dollar goes directly to a 100 percent disabled veteran.

I’d like to thank all that donated at the parades. I’d also like to thank Mayor Dave Cassetti of Ansonia and First Selectman George Temple of Oxford their help.

If you missed the parades and would like to made a donation, kindly send your donation to VFW Post 597 C/O Patrick Freeman, Commander, 145 Chestnut Tree Hill Rd., Oxford 06478.
