To the Editor:

In the recycling area of the Southbury Transfer Station, there are prominent signs informing us that “Removing Items Is Theft.”

Excellent. I’m certain this saves the town dozens of dollars in potentially lost revenue over the course of a year. I would like to suggest additional signs, “Living in Southbury and registering your car in New York is theft.”

If implemented, this would result in recovering thousands of dollars in lost revenue from each Navigator, Escalade, Tesla and LandCruiser. For some reason, the current town administration is reluctant to pursue these tax cheats. This despite its willingness to ask each department head, “Could you run your department with one less person?” Jeffrey A. Manville said in a local daily newspaper.

I feel that priorities might be reassessed.
