To the Editor:

I have been thinking lately about my friend Dick Leavenworth and, since his passing just a year ago now, about his legacy for Woodbury.

Throughout his life people respected Dick, his perspective and what he stood for, regardless of political affiliation.

Dick always felt that we had people with the ideas and actions that in time came to be part of our town’s personality and success.

He once said to me, “We always led on the issues.” He was really talking about those certain types of people who have a passion for their ideas and are willing to lead to make them happen.

Alex DeSorbo is clearly Woodbury’s most qualified first selectman candidate. His capable efforts leading the BOF for the past six years demonstrates that he has a talent for “seeing the big picture” and making progress by working with a team without politics getting in the way.

His ideas and efforts have already been adopted and implemented for the benefit of all of us.

I have come to know Alex and to appreciate what he brings to our community. He has a career of business management success and has demonstrated a talent for effective town government.

I believe Alex DeSorbo has the skills and the passion “to lead on the issues,” not on the politics, in the very way Dick Leavenworth thought so important. Please join me in supporting Alex in November.
