To the Editor:

My name is Ed Wildman, and I am writing to thank all the people — family, neighbors, friends, businesses, town offices, and folks I haven’t even met — for making a Christmas wish come true for another year.

For some time now, I’ve been collecting bottles and cans to turn in for deposit, so that I can use that money to buy Christmas gifts for little children in our town who might otherwise have to go without.

So many people have helped me collect, or brought their own bottles and cans to me, that now, every year, I am able to make a really meaningful cash donation to our own Southbury Needy Fund.

So this letter is to thank every one of you folks who have helped make this happen. I know a lot of you, but a lot of you I haven’t yet met. Thank you all for sharing with me this wish, that when a little boy or a little girl comes down to the tree on Christmas morning, they will see that Santa Claus has been there. That light in a child’s eyes is what the world needs more of.

Yes, Southbury, there is a Santa Claus, and it’s you. Thank you.
