To the Editor:

As 2021 ends, Woodbury is losing a most valuable asset and resource.

Alex DeSorbo will chair his final regular Board of Finance meeting on November 17 concluding a span of eight years of service on the board, seven as its chairman.

During that time Mr. DeSorbo diligently and skillfully led the board and the town to some major achievements. He organized a major bond issue for roads and equipment. He engineered establishment of a mil rate mitigation fund to ease the burden of the Region 14 bond cost. His efforts have produced a stable tax rate and an “Aa1” Moody’s credit rating for Woodbury.

Alex kept members of the Board of Finance fully informed and free to voice their opinions or offer suggestions which he considered with an open mind.

His presentations of budgets to those gathered at the annual May Town Meetings were always polished, detailed, transparent and fully understandable.

He has been a true professional, and he will be sorely missed.
