To the Editor:
I am writing in response to a letter written by Lou Alba, Woodbury, dated 12/18/2019, entitled “Details Democratic Hypocrisy.” He responded to my previous letter entitled “Says House Has No Choice,” published 12/11/ 019.
Mr. Alba responded with his opinions concerning recent political events. However, his opinions are not supported by the facts as listed below.
Joe Biden was cleared of any wrongdoing in Ukraine.
Hunter Biden did nothing illegal in taking a seat on the board of Burisma, as is true of Ivanka Trump being given copyrights by China.
President Trump, in his “perfect” July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky established two quid pro quos: missiles for a “favor, though” and a White House visit for investigations into the Bidens.
The House investigatory committees have followed well-established traditional rules. Congressional Republicans have been unsuccessful in pushing back. This was not a Kangaroo Court as has been falsely claimed.
Ukraine did not interfere in our 2016 election. That lie originated with Russian President Putin and has been repeatedly debunked.
Trump has intensified the immigration crisis by separating children from their parents, who are entitled by U.S. law to seek asylum.
The United States openly sent Iran their, (not our) money, seized by the U.S. in the late 1970s in exchange for the suspension of their nuclear program.
Hillary Clinton, was cleared by Trey Gowdy (R/SC) after 11 investigations into Benghazi. Trump’s State Department recently cleared her of any wrongdoing in handling her emails.
Trump has made a sweeping claim of executive privilege to justify his stonewalling of Congress, unsupported by law or tradition. He has been charged with obstruction of Congress as a result.
Opinions require hard facts, unimpeded by partisan rhetoric, before they can be regarded as truth.
Facts matter, as always.
