To the Editor:

Thank you from the Southbury Needy Fund to the many organizations, schools, churches, groups, businesses and individuals who helped make the 2019 Holiday Gift Program for children a success for 158 children from 76 families.

Specifically, thanks to the Southbury Police Department who conducted two successful toy drives. Special thanks to the SPD officers and staff who volunteered as well as “Santa” Ed Wildman who volunteered and donated funds.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the SVFA generously donated funds towards the purchase of winter jackets and snowpants with shopping coordinated by Jen Masi.

The Southbury Business Association held its annual Festival of Wreaths at the Heritage Hotel to support the fund. Primary sponsors were the Lutheran Home, Heritage Hotel, Newtown Savings Bank, Joseph Bette Realtors, Munson Lovetere and Waterbury Hospital/Waterbury Health.

The Heritage Village Women’s Club held its annual Giving Tree and donated generously to the children and senior holiday programs.

Thanks to Sacred Heart Church, United Church of Christ, St. James Lutheran, Cornerstone Assembly of God, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Church of the Epiphany and The Upper Room, and South Britain Congregational Church for their continued support of our Christmas program, and to our Region 15 schools, PHS, PES, GES, LMES, RMS, MES and MMS for all their generous support.

Our appreciation to Social Services Director Sandy Saren, who made sure all the children in need were on the list and to Kevin Bennett, who graciously donated office space for the sorting of the gifts.

We also thank the Southbury Women’s Club for their donations to the fund from the annual Turkey Trot, which allows us to help residents throughout the year as referred by the Social Services Department.

On behalf of the Southbury Needy Fund, we thank all our Santas.
