To the Editor:

On behalf of the Southbury-Woodbury Giving Circle of Regional Hospice, our sincere thanks to the clubs, organizations and residents of Heritage Village for their generous donations to our Harvest Lunch fundraiser, our 25th year.

The Heritage Village Ambulance Association, Brush and Pencil Club, Gay Heritage Club, the Jewish Culture Club, the Men’s Club, Republican Club, Theater Guild, Women’s Club and Barbara O’Brien. This is a group whose support brings palliative pediatric and perinatal bereavement services to those in need.

With your support, we were able to build the Northstar building, a 15,000-square-foot wing designed for terminally ill children from infants to teens. It is the first children’s hospice space in the northeast and only the fifth such in the nation.

Unfortunately, children need a place of their own to die. This gives children and their parents comfort and support to enable them to go through such terrible times.

Again, thanks to all.
