To the Editor:

As many of your readers know, the Southbury Dog Park is a wonderful community resource open to all and has been so for almost 20 years now.

What your readers may not know is that the dog park is not affiliated with the town of Southbury but sits on land generously lent by O&G Industries, lnc., operated and maintained by a non-profit group of volunteers, The Friends of the Southbury Dog Park, Inc.

On June 1 and 2 our group held our annual fund-raiser to benefit the dog park, which was a tremendous success. Hundreds of people, and even more dogs, visited the park and their generous donations will support the park’s ongoing operations including grasscutting, tables and benches, fencing, tree care, signage, our website and lots and lots of doggie-bags.

We are grateful to everyone who generously gave at the fundraiser and we are especially grateful to O&G Industries.

Without their generosity the Southbury Dog Park would simply not exist.

So here’s to 20 years of the park’s existence, to dog-lovers’ generosity and to O&G Industries for the use of their beautiful 14-acre property.
