To the Editor:

One thing I love about back to school season is scrolling through social media and seeing my friends from all over the country posting photos of their children’s first day of school. It always makes me smile to see how much everyone has grown and how excited they are for the year ahead.

I had a new appreciation seeing this year’s crop of back to school photos. Several friends who do not live in Region 15 mentioned in their posts how excited their children were to be going back to school full-time, after spending the previous year and a half in hybrid, remote or some combination of the two.

It made me realize just how lucky we are in Region 15 to have been in school 170 out of 180 days last year. While others are just now returning to a more normal school experience, Region 15 is a step ahead and ready to move forward.

I want to thank Superintendent Smith, our fantastic Region 15 teachers and staff and our dedicated Board of Education members for working so hard to provide our students with an in-person learning experience last year.

I fully support the reelection of Marion Manzo, Heather Rodgers and Tom Marks to the Region 15 Board of Education. Under their steady hand, Region 15 has become a shining example of what’s possible when administrators, staff and the board put politics aside and work collaboratively to provide the best possible education for our students. Thank you for all you do.
