To the Editor:

Where were you on February 5, 2016 about 4:30 a.m.?

A light snow was falling that morning. We were standing in our garage with neighbors watching police, firemen and medical emergency services. Our home was on fire, and, at that time, we remember familiar and unfamiliar faces along with comments of comfort.

One of the faces in the crowd was our first selectman, Jeff Manville. He cared enough for the well-being of the residents of Heritage Village and was willing to leave his comfortable home early that morning to show his concern.

This act of kindness will not be forgotten.
