It’s been a while, almost two years to be exact, since high school athletes have competed in a spring sport, what with the entire 2020 season having been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. So local baseball, softball and tennis players, track and field athletes and golfers have surely been glad to dust off their gear and their skills in the past couple of weeks. First games of the season were on Saturday, April 10, and teams were preparing last week. Above, the Nonnewaug baseball team hosted Bristol Eastern for a scrimmage in Woodbury on Tuesday, April 6. The practice helped make perfect, as the Chiefs went on to defeat Terryville, 17-0, in their season opener. (O’Brien photo)
