SOUTHBURY — The Board of Selectmen listened to a presentation on an energy savings program, SolSmart, and selectmen’s liaison reports during a meeting on Thursday, September 15, before adjourning for an executive session for a legal matter.

Chuck Litty, chairman of the Energy Task Force, said the SolSmart program is similar to SustainableCT with one important distinction: SolSmart is a national program while SustainableCT is statewide only. Otherwise, the two programs are similar in that they are both certification programs that offer certification credits for specific actions towns may take to streamline the process residents or businesses face in obtaining alternative energy, particularly solar energy.
