PLANTING NEW TRADITIONS

Southbury’s Public Works Department is adding three new evergreen trees to town property this year, one of which should eventually replace the ailing tree on the Memorial Green that serves as the town Christmas tree. Town arborist Pat Kearns and public works employee Matt Jensen (back to camera) worked to position a Norway spruce in front of Southbury Town Hall. It joins the concolor fir that was planted in front of the Police Department on Arbor Day in honor of first responders. The third tree is a 22-foot Norway spruce which will be sited between the Town Hall and Center Firehouse on Main Street South. (O’Brien photo)
