NEW PRIEST AT CHURCH

St. George’s Episcopal Church in Middlebury hosted the ordination of the Rev. Tara Boyd Shepley on January 16. The Rt. Rev. Laura Ahren, bishop of Connecticut, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Marilyn Anderson, bishop’s chaplain. Rev. Shepley graduated from Yale Divinity School and served at St. Andrew’s, Kent, and Trinity Church in Torrington before serving St. George’s as deacon.

Clergy from many Connecticut churches, plus parishioners from her home church, St. Paul’s, Brookfield, attended. Now a fully ordained priest in the Episcopal Church, Rev. Shepley will remain at St. George’s, is officiating at services and coordinating discussion groups, meditation sessions and other community services.
