About 100 residents from Voices area towns took part in a peaceful candlelight public gathering outside Town Hall in Southbury on Thursday, January 7. The event was organized by Southbury residents Rob De Carli and Mary Doherty in response to the events that took place at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6. Organizers and participants said it was an opportunity to stand together and celebrate democracy, while reminding everyone to tend the flame that keeps democracy alive. Friends, neighbors, local community leaders and clergy members shared words of enlightenment along with music and song.
