NEWTOWN — The Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson St., announced the center would be closed until further notice as part of a cautious response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The center’s meal provider, CW Resources, will provide prepackaged lunches for seniors in containers that can be heated in home microwaves.

Meals will be available at noon Monday through Friday for curbside pick-up.

Those who would like to receive a meal are asked to call the senior center with three days’ notice by calling 203-270-4310.

Anyone who does not have transportation should alert staff when calling.

Meals are provided for a suggested donation of $3.

Those not registered for the congregate meal program at the center can complete the registration form required by CW and prove the form when picking up meals.

A statement from the senior center said, “We are thrilled to be able to continue to provide meals to our members in partnership with CW Resources. We hope to see many of you at pick-up.”

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide services are suspended and the tax deadline is now July 15.
