BETHLEHEM — Valerie Hotchkiss Meister, 91, of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.

Born in Nichols, the daughter of Floyd and Marguerite (Mead-Smith) Hotchkiss, Valerie was educated at the University of Connecticut, earning her degree in agriculture, animal husbandry and bacteriology.

She and her husband, Earl, moved to Nova Scotia in 1978 where their efforts on behalf of the town of Lunenburg and the arts were highly regarded.

She was pre-deceased by her brother, Alan, her son, Harland (Zip), and her grandsons, Mathew Meister, Greg Meister and Jeremy Meister.

Valerie is survived by her husband Earl, her daughters, Laura Smith (husband, Derek) of Nova Scotia, and Betsy Meister (husband, Peter Lazas) of Maine; her son Carl Meister (wife, Susan) of Bethlehem, and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
