MIDDLETOWN — James William Burr, 64, of Middletown, died peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on Monday afternoon, November 19, 2019, after a long fight with kidney disease.

Born June 28, 1955, and raised in Monroe, Jim was the eldest son of the late George and Florence Burr. He was a Vietnam War veteran and retired from the state of Connecticut.

James is survived by his son, William and daughter-in-law Crystal Burr of Wolcott and their two children, who are Jim’s only grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves his brothers, Kenneth Burr of Morris and Richard Burr of Middletown; his sisters, Kathleen and brother-in-law John Kerkes of Southbury and Bethann Burr of Waterbury; five nephews and a niece, Justin and James Tito, Alex, Zack and Cassandra Burr.

Jim had many interests and hobbies. He was a collector and loved his music. He enjoyed visiting with family and outings with his grandchildren.

He will be missed by many.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 14, at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St., Woodbury. The family will have a private funeral ceremony in the early spring with military honors.
