James Patrick Rafferty

OXFORD — James Patrick Rafferty, 64, of Oxford, beloved husband of Jill (Hanigan) Rafferty, entered peaceful rest on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by family.

James was born May 13, 1955, in Bridgeport, a son of the late James D. and Marie (Licsak) Rafferty. A retired purchasing manager for R & R Manufacturing in Seymour, he was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Boston Bruins and NASCAR, as well as the Oakland Raiders.

On a nice sunny day you could find him cruising around in his beloved ‘76 Trans Am or fishing at his favorite spot.

He possessed a wealth of knowledge about American history, specifically World War II, and was always ready with a bit of trivia for anyone who would listen.

His true joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids who lovingly referred to him as Papa.

Besides his wife of 41 years, he leaves his loving children, Steven Rafferty of Oxford and Lisa Chapman and her husband, Shawn, of Oxford; his brother, Patrick Rafferty and his wife, Catherine, of Oxford; his sisters, Colleen Lundgren and her husband, Jerry, of Seymour and Eileen Broderick of Oxford; two cherished grandchildren, Callie and Cameron, and many nieces and nephews.

All services will be private. Arrangements are by the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour.
