Diane Carol Tremblay

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. — Diane Carol Tremblay, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her home in Jensen Beach, Fla.

Diane was born July 24, 1936 in Haverhill, Mass., one of five children of the late Lucien L. Vadeboncoeur and H. Marion (Dacey) Vadeboncoeur. She received her undergraduate degree from Bridgewater State College. Upon graduation from Bridgewater, she married her college sweetheart, Paul A. Tremblay.

As a marine major’s wife, she was stationed around the country with Paul, eventually settling in Southbury where she raised four children. She started her career as an English teacher at Pomperaug High School. While teaching, she obtained her master’s degree in education at Southern Connecticut State University.

Diane remained at Pomperaug High School until retirement 25 years later. After retiring, she and her husband became snowbirds, splitting their time between Holderness, N.H., and Jensen Beach, Fla.

Diane had varied interests. She enjoyed philosophical conversations and was an avid reader. Diane was an exuberant Jeopardy buff and was always up for an animated game of trivia. She was fortunate to have many opportunities to travel to destinations near and far.

Diane loved baking and enjoyed sharing her tasty expertise with her children and grandchildren. Diane was kind, sincere, thoughtful, and had a great sense of humor, thereby easily making many lifelong bonds and friendships.

Diane was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Family came first and foremost in every way. She especially treasured her six grandchildren and reveled in her role as Nana. At one point, Diane even extended her role as a mother to her three nephews and an AFS “son” from Portugal.

Diane was predeceased by her older sisters, Lorna C. Antkowiak and Paula M. Vadeboncoeur, and her brother, James L. Vadeboncoeur.

She is survived by her husband, Paul A. Tremblay of Jensen Beach, Fla.; her sister, Priscilla M. Swanson of Melrose, Mass.; her two daughters, Jennifer Tremblay of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Tracy Donahue of Palm City, Fla.; and her two sons, Tom Tremblay of Colchester and Mark Tremblay of Holderness, N.H. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed wholeheartedly by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, January 18 at All County Funeral Home in Stuart, Fla. An additional memorial service will take place this summer in Holderness, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local hospice chapter.
