MONROE — Daniel E. Gallagher, 69, of Monroe passed away Saturday, October 13, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Dan was born December 4, 1948 in Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late John E. Gallagher and Elvira V. Lacey. He attended Our Lady of Refuge Grammar School and high school at St. Helena's Boys School.

Dan naturally fell into work in the theater due to his own dramatic personality and fashion sense. This led to his passion for AIDS education and his renowned play, "BTS" or "Between the Seams." The play encompassed most of his entire life, along with nursing and caring for people in need.

He had a twinkle in his eye most always and a keen sense of humor.

All of his remaining family, friends and co-workers will miss him and remember him with a smile.

He leaves his younger sister, Laura Gallagher.

A memorial service will take place at noon Monday, December 10, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. Another memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Augustine, Fla. A private service will follow at a later date.
