SOUTHBURY — Camille Jeanne (Bower) Bertrand, 73, of Grace Meadows in Southbury, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Camille was born September 5, 1945 in New York, the daughter of the late Harvey Bower and Mildred (Bower) Russell.

She belonged to various committees in the town of Southbury, including chairman of Senior Service Mission, Volunteer Appreciation Committee, Inland Wetland Commission and the Historic Building Commission.

In addition to her community involvement, she rescued special care senior dogs through the Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England.

She leaves her daughters, Linda Danziger and Doug Morgan of Woodbury and Jackie and David Makarewicz and her three grandchildren, Shayna, Sam and Madeline, of West Hartford, and a brother, Harvey and April Bower.

She was predeceased by her stepfather, Hillard Russell, and her sister, Mildred Roma.

Camille's family thanks the staff at the Lutheran Home in Southbury and Danbury Hospital for their exceptional care during her stay.

A memorial service will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the Grace Meadows Community Building, 380 North Poverty Rd., Southbury.
