Betty Ann Lanyon

SOUTHBURY — Betty Ann Lanyon of Southbury passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday, June 25, 2020, surrounded by her family, especially her son, William, who was at her bedside day and night.

Betty Ann was born May 21, 1933, in Stamford, the daughter of the late Lorenz and Theresa Gruener.

She was the beloved wife of the late David A. Lanyon.

Betty Ann is survived by her son, William Lanyon of Southbury, and her daughters, Diane Badoud of Bakersfield, Calif., Jayne DiTomaso of Stamford and Kimberly Mirabito of Woodbury; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty Ann grew up in Stamford and attended Stamford public schools. She obtained a degree in nursing at the Hospital of St. Raphael and spent many years as an R.N. at Stamford Hospital, and also in private duty care.

She married David in 1955 and they were happily married for 45 years. They built their home in North Stamford, where they raised their family together. Upon their retirement, they moved to Heritage Circle in Southbury in 1996.

Betty Ann enjoyed sitting by the pool, and was dubbed “Pool Sheriff” of the Heritage Circle Pool Association. She also enjoyed visiting the Connecticut casinos.

All services will be private, with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.

Contributions may be made to the New Milford Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association.
