Anne Zuraw

ANSONIA — Anne Zuraw, 98, of Ansonia, died peacefully Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Zuraw.

Mrs. Zuraw was born May 31, 1920, in Stamford, the daughter of the late Michael and Matrona Hawran Badarick. An Ansonia resident for more than 70 years, she worked in the environmental services department of Griffin Hospital until the time of her retirement.

She was a devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church where she was a member of the choir, the Ladies Guild and the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Post 1677.

Mrs. Zuraw was a member of the League of Ukrainian Catholics and the Ansonia and Derby Senior Centers.

She leaves her devoted children, Marissa A. (Thomas) Nemergut of Vermont, Nicholas Peter Zuraw of Ansonia, Denis J. Zuraw of Derby, Michael L. (Patricia) Zuraw of Seymour and Daniel P. (Patricia) Zuraw of Shelton; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Zuraw, and great-grandson, Jacob Zuraw, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband of 66 years, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Shirley Berenda Zuraw; five sisters, Mildred DiMauro, Tillie Student, Janice Dorus, Helen Skodien and Elizabeth Burns; and a brother, Peter Badarick.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, from Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia, to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 7, with Panakhida at 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
