Alice Patelson

SOUTHBURY — Alice Patelson passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022. She was born in New York City and was the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Patricia (Lenn) Patelson.

Alice was a dancer with the New York City Ballet Company during the 1970s under the direction of George Balanchine.

In 1972, the NYC Ballet Company toured the Soviet Union and Poland where Alice danced in major cities which included Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev and Warsaw. In 1973, Alice spent six weeks in West Berlin making films of ballets with the NYC Ballet Company.

Later on, she attended Fordham University at the Lincoln Center campus in New York City.

In 1995, Alice wrote and published her autobiography, “Portrait of a Dancer, Memories of Balanchine.” Both Heritage Village Library and the Southbury Public Library have a copy of her book.

Alice has resided in Heritage Village, Southbury, since 1986.

Alice is survived by her loving sister, Sally Patelson.
