BRIDGEWATER — The Rev. Abby Gackenheimer has been named the full time pastor of the Bridgewater Congregational Church, 10 Clapboard Rd. The congregation voted to approve Rev. Abby after a two-year search by the transition committee. “I am passionate about the vitality and vibrancy of a small local church. I believe that a faith community of a few can be just as powerful as a faith community of 200,” Rev. Gackenheimer said.

Rev. Abby currently resides at Silver Lake Conference and Retreat Center with her husband, the Rev. Ryan Gackenheimer, who is the executive director of SLCC, and son, Keadyn, who is in first grade, plus their two dogs, three guinea pigs and tortoise.

Rev. Abby will take the helm on Monday, November 15, replacing the Rev. Daniel England, who has served as the interim pastor for the past two years.

“The church has grown and prospered the last two years under the loving guidance of Daniel,” Alan Smith, the head deacon, said.

“We shall forever be grateful.”

Rev. Abby has served as the interim/transitional minister for the Congregational Church of Plainville and the First Congregational Church of Kent, as well as pulpit supply in Salisbury, Cornwall and Goshen.

The Bridgewater Congregational Church, founded in 1803, is a member of the United Church of Christ.
