Monroe Building Official James L. Sandor retired August 21 after serving 32 years with the town. First Selectman Ken Kellogg (left) declared August 15 to be James L. Sandor Day in honor of the long-time employee. Mr. Sandor was appointed building official in 1993, after previously serving as a building inspector and assistant building official. He notably used students from Masuk High School to help scan building department files.

Mr. Kellogg said, “James’ outstanding commitment to ensuring the town’s best interests are always at the forefront of his decisions, all while ensuring that concerns of his customers are heard and respected.”
