Fire destroyed a residence under construction in Woodbury at first light on Saturday, January 9, according to the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department. About 15 Woodbury firefighters responded along with mutual aid assistance from Middlebury, Southbury, Watertown and Bethlehem. There were no injuries reported among workmen or firefighters. The cause was under investigation, said Woodbury Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan. The fire was called in at 6:45 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing an explosion in the Strong Field development near the corner of Middle Road Turnpike and Route 6. In this photo from the WVFD, Lt. Mark Mastrangelo is among those fighting the fire.
