Town of Oxford employees lined up outside of Oxford Town Hall on Wednesday, October 23 for the chance to send First Selectman George Temple tumbling into the chilly depths of a pink dunk tank during the town’s annual Pinking of the First Selectman fundraiser. Donations benefitted Griffin Hospital’s fund for breast cancer awareness. First in line was Town Clerk Margaret West-Mainor, whose sizable donation allowed her the privilege of bypassing the ball throwing and directly hitting the target. The event was coordinated by Kelly Weymer (at right), secretary to the first selectman.
Oxford First Selectman George Temple was surely thankful for the mild and sunny weather on October 23 as the town recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month by ‘pinking’ the first selectman. While the pinking is an annual event instituted by Temple during his administration, the means by which it is done is always different and always a surprise. This year’s event had town employees lining up to sink him into a pink dunk tank.
