WOODBURY — Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Town of Woodbury will not be hosting its annual Memorial Day Parade this year.

The Parks and Recreation Department does not want to encourage groups to congregate either for the parade itself, to watch from Main Street or to participate in the ceremony on the Cannon Green.

Instead, residents are encouraged to mark the day by flying the American flag at home, wearing patriotic colors, explaining the meaning of the day to children and sharing a minute’s silence at 3 p.m. for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

“Although we cannot gather together as a community, we will do so again, but let’s not let the day go without remembering the true meaning of this holiday and honoring those who went before us so that we could remember them,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jenifer Miller.
