SOUTHBURY — The Southbury Senior Center is currently closed to the public.

The doors remain locked, but programming, outreach and in person opportunities continue.

The Southbury Senior Center is not involved in the roll out of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The center refers those seeking information to contact the Pomperaug District Department of Health at 203-264-9616, extension 7.

Grab and Go Lunches are planned at 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday in April.

The center will partner with New Opportunities of Waterbury and Annoula’s Restaurant of Woodbury to provide lunches.

This lunch is open to all seniors but space is limited. There is a 30 person limit.

There is a suggested donation, New Opportunities will send participants an invoice.

Seniors that have not participated in the Chef on Site luncheon will receive a one time phone call from New Opportunities to obtain registration information.

A trip to Mystic Seaport Museum is planned for Thursday, May 13.

Departure time is 8 a.m., return is 4:30 p.m.

There is a fee, check payable to the Town of Southbury, which includes transportation, admission and whaling tour.

Those attending will arrive at the Seaport around 10 a.m. The tour begins at 11 a.m.

Lunch will be prepared by Coastal Gourmet Catering at Mystic and provided at no charge, courtesy of the Southbury Senior Center. A meal choice will be given once registration is complete.

There will be a lot of walking so comfortable shoes are a must. Much of the day will be spent outdoors so dress appropriately.

Proof of complete Covid-19 vaccination and mask are required to participate. Space is limited to 12 members.

Reservations by phone began Friday, April 9. Any calls received before 4:30 will be placed at the end of the call list.

The Zoom exercise schedule is as follows: Mondays, 9:30 a.m. Aerobics with Laura; Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. Chair Yoga with Pam; Thursdays, 8:45 a.m. Yoga with Pam.

Cooking with Nick from Brass City Harvest is now a once a week class. The next scheduled class is 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, but that may change due to holidays.

Members will be sent a Zoom invitation by email.

Art with Wendy via Zoom is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21.
