Minor Memorial Library to Host Hot Acoustics and Pop-up Bar

The Minor Memorial Library will host Hot Acoustics at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31 on the library’s lawn at 23 South St. There will be a Pop-Up Bar for drinks. Those attending may bring their own picnics, as well as lawn chairs and blankets.

ROXBURY — The Minor Memorial Library will host Hot Acoustics at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31 on the library’s lawn at 23 South St. There will be a Pop-Up Bar for drinks. Those attending may bring their own picnics, as well as lawn chairs and blankets. There is no charge for this program.

Hot Acoustics is a high energy guitar and violin duo with Alyce Cognetta Bertz and Gary Bertz, who have performed in Amsterdam, Martha’s Vineyard, Aspen, Copenhagen, Key West, Boulder, West Berlin, Smithsonian No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man exhibit at Oakland Museum of California and the Burning Man Project in Nevada.

Featuring Gary Bertz on guitar and Alyce Cognetta Bertz on violin, Hot Acoustics’s set list is diverse and full of originals as well as tunes by Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Stephane Grappelli, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Irving Berlin, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Eagles, John Lennon, Radiohead, Grateful Dead, Dolly Parton, Jimi Hendrix, Tango, Louis Armstrong, Jefferson Airplane, Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, Mark O’Conner and Vassar Clements.

They have appeared on shows with Bonnie Raitt, Leon Russell, The Ramones, Ritchie Havens, Hot Tuna, Max Creek, Phoebe Snow, George Jones, Arlo Guthrie, Merle Saunders, NRBQ, Renaissance, Jonathan Edwards, Steven Stills and Jorma Kaukonen.

Their music is included on the documentary on Burning Man founder Larry Harvey’s life.
