WOODBURY — The Woodbury Lions Club will not host the annual Haunted Hayride this year.

However, to comply with current state and CDC Covid-19 guidelines, the Lions Club will offer a Haunted River Walk at Hollow Park in Woodbury from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, at Hollow Park on Hollow Road.

The guided 45-minute walk is along the river trail at Hollow Park, where ghosts, goblins and other denizens of the dark lurk, awaiting their next victims. For those lucky enough to make it to the end, a stunning laser light show awaits.

To get into the spirit of things, guests are encouraged to wear costumes, shoes appropriate for hiking and everyone is required to wear face masks and follow proper social distancing rules.

Part of the trail is a moderately rough path and is not handicapped-accessible.

The Lions suggest guests bring flashlights for the darker areas of the trail. The Lions require pets to remain at home.

Tickets, $15 for adults and $10 for children under age 12, must be purchased in advance from www.woodburyctlions.org; click on the Get Tickets link.

Walks leave at 15-minute intervals.

Visitors are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time. When the walk ends, guests should leave immediately to comply with Covid-19 protocols.

The Lions use the proceeds from events to award scholarships to graduating Nonnewaug High School seniors, support local sight and hearing causes and to contribute to the Lions Clubs International Foundation, which supports many humanitarian and relief efforts worldwide.
