NEWTOWN — “Spring is here, and it’s time for tag sales,” said Patti Clark, event coordinator for the Newtown Historical Society’s tag sale, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main St.

Not even the tag sale coordinator and her team know what unique things will be donated and looking for a new owner.

This is one of a series of tag sales the Historical Society is holding in order to raise funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the Curtiss House, which was built around 1750.

Donations for the sale will be accepted from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, June 3.

Items can include housewares, books, toys, knickknacks, furniture, and any other unique articles in unbroken and saleable condition, but not clothing.

Pickup may be arranged by emailing

All proceeds from the tag sale, whether they come from donations on drop-off day or purchases at the sale or both, will be appreciated.

The society asks that no early birds arrive before 10 a.m.

In case of rain, the sale will be held Sunday, June 5.
