Drive-Thru Food Drive Planned in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER — Tax Collector Catherine Vikstrom will host a Food Drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, January 23, at the Bridgewater Congregational Church, 10 Clapboard Rd.

The church houses the town’s Food Pantry. This is a drive-through, no-contact event, where residents may pay their taxes and drop off a food donation at the same time.

Non-perishable food items, personal items (such as toothpaste, shampoo, soap) and household goods (paper towels, toilet tissue, cleaning products) will be collected. Grocery store gift cards in $25 and $50 increments are also needed.

Taxes may be paid by check only. The tax collector will not be able to accept cash or credit payments on Saturday.

Covid-19 precautions have made it more challenging to solicit food donations, but the need remains consistent in the community. The Tax Office has hosted a Food Drive in conjunction with tax collections since 2014. Saturday’s event will the second drive-through event.

Those seeking additional information may call Catherine Vikstrom at 860-355-9220 or email to cvikstrom@bridgewater-ct.gov.
