ANSONIA — Store leadership at Big Y in Derby selected the Derby Historical Society as the January 2020 beneficiary for its Community Bag Program.

The Big Y Community Bag Program, launched in January 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support, aiming to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

The Derby Historical Society will receive a $1 donation every time someone purchases the $2.50 reusable bag at Big Y’s Derby location during January, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the “giving tag” attached to the bag.

“We are excited that Big Y continues to show its support to the Derby Historical Society,” said Daniel L. Bosques, executive director of the Derby Historical Society. “

This donation campaign will continue to help us preserve our place in history.”

The Derby Historical Society is a nonprofit based in Ansonia.

Founded in 1946, the Derby Historical Society has served as the Lower Naugatuck Valley’s regional historical organization.
