SOUTHBURY — The Parks and Recreation Summer Concert Series will kick off from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 1, with music from Dr. Ya Ya’s Gumbo Party.

The outdoor concert will take place on the green next to the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center, 561 Main St. South.

“When Dr. Ya Ya’s Gumbo Party comes to town you are in for some of the best Louisiana-style musical cookin’ north of Lake Pontchartrain,” a press release said. “Dr. Ya Ya dispatches his musical minions, who resemble past and present members of rootsy rockin’ bands like the Bandidos, Hot Skillet Papas, Eight to the Bar, B. Willie Smith, The Convertibles and more.”

The concerts are free and open to residents and non-residents.

In the case of rain, events will move indoors in the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center.

Those seeking additional information may call Parks and Recreation at 203-262-0633.
