Woodbury Library to Host Book Talk About the Battle of the Wilderness

WOODBURY — The Woodbury Public Library will host author Charles McNair, M.D., for a book talk at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 20 at the library, 269 Main St. South. Dr. McNair will discuss his latest novel “In a Dark Wood,” the second volume in his Three American Wars series. “In a Dark Wood” is about the civil war battle called the Battle of the Wilderness, which took place in May 1864. 

The battle was fought by Confederate General Robert E. Lee and the then relatively unknown Union general, Ulysses S. Grant.

The talk will include history of the war and how it relates to the medical knowledge of the time.

Dr. McNair enlisted in the army in 1968. 

He was a combat field medic and after his enlistment he served in the Waterbury/Yale program. 

He had his practice in Woodbury.
